The South Carolina Housing Trust Fund provides financial assistance for the development, rehabilitation, and acquisition of affordable housing for low-income and very-low-income households. As Administrator of the Housing Trust Fund, SC State Housing strives to maximize leveraging of federal, state and other housing assistance programs. The Trust Fund delivers funds through established partnerships with other governmental entities, qualified non-profit sponsors, and for-profit sponsors.
How the Trust Fund Works
The Trust Fund does not make funding awards directly to individual citizens, but instead works through a network of partners, including governmental and non-profit entities. These organizations apply for funding in one of the activities listed below, and then use the funds to provide affordable housing to eligible citizens.
Individual citizens of SC who are looking for assistance through the Housing Trust Fund should contact one of our approved non-profit sponsors. A list of approved sponsors can be found under the Associated Documents list to the right.

Applications for the Fund are accepted in four (4) funding cycles that correspond with Authority Board meetings as listed below:

Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee
The Housing Trust Fund Advisory Committee is comprised of leaders in affordable housing from across the State, as well as citizens who fall within the qualified income ranges for the Fund. The role of the Advisory Committee is advise SC State Housing of housing needs, to recommend to SC State Housing those areas of the State in which affordable housing development should be encouraged, the types of housing development that should be considered for funding, and to provide other pertinent information to SC State Housing as the members of the advisory committee consider appropriate.
