Over $5 Million in Housing Trust Fund Awards Made by State Housing Authority - 6/23/2007

[Columbia, SC] The Board of Commissioners for the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority approved over $5 million in Trust Fund awards at their recent meeting. These awards, consisting of 42 properties throughout the state, are for Homeownership Block Grants, Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Block Grants, Supportive Housing, and Group Homes.
 The awards are as follows:
Homeownership Block Grants    
      Homeownership Block Grant are designed to assist low to moderate income citizens at or below 80 percent of the area median income in becoming a homeowner.
Community Assistance Provider - $11,500 to assist a family in purchasing a home in Richland County.
Charleston Area Community Development Corporation - $153,500 to assist nine families in purchasing homes located in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties.
OIKOS Community Development, Inc. - $80,500 to assist seven families in purchasing homes located in Saluda, Lexington, Richland, Newberry, York, Fairfield, Greenwood and Abbeville counties.
Lowcountry Housing & Economic Development Foundation, Inc. - $150,000 to assist seven families in the purchase of homes in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties.
Spartanburg Housing Authority - $80,500 to assist eight families in purchasing homes in Spartanburg County.
Spartanburg Leased Housing Corporation - $80,500 to assist six families in purchasing homes in Spartanburg County.
Spartanburg Housing Authority Development, Inc. - $80,500 to assist six families in purchasing homes in Spartanburg County.
Family Services - $161,000 to assist six families in purchasing homes in Spartanburg County.
Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County - $80,500 to assist seven families in the construction and/or purchasing homes in Greenville County.
Dorchester Habitat for Humanity - $80,500 to assist seven families in the construction and/or purchasing homes in Dorchester County.
Blackville Community Development Corp. - $23,000 to assist two families in purchasing homes in Barnwell County.
Housing Development Corp. of Rock Hill - $80,500 to assist 10 families in purchasing homes in York County.
Oconee County Habitat for Humanity - $60,000 to assist six families in purchasing homes in Oconee County.
Charleston Bank Consortium - $150,000 to assist 10 families in purchasing homes in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties.
Southeastern Housing Foundation - $80,500 to assist families in purchasing homes in
Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Berkeley, Calhoun, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton, and Jasper counties.
Soteria World Outreach Ministries - $80,500 to assist families in purchasing homes located in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties.
Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Block Grants 
Owner occupied rehabilitation block grants are designed to assist very low income homeowners at or below 50 percent of the area median income in correcting severe health, safety, or structural problems with their homes.
Rural Initiatives - $155,750 to assist in the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Barnwell County.
OIKOS Community Development, Inc. - $155,750 to assist in the rehabilitation of seven homes located in Lexington and Richland counties.
City of Sumter Housing & Economic Development Corporation - $89,000 to assist in the rehabilitation of four homes located in Sumter County.
Ames Road Community Education & Housing Development Organization - $155,750 to assist in the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Richland and Lexington counties.
Santee Electric Trust Operation Round Up - $44,500 to assist in the rehabilitation of two houses located in Williamsburg and Florence counties. 
Unity Unlimited Service, Inc. - $155,750 to assist in the rehabilitation of eight homes located in Florence County.
Sumter County Community Development Corporation - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of eight homes located in Sumter County.
Kennedy Community Development Corp. - $46,000 for the rehabilitation of six homes located in Fairfield County.
Community Assistance Provider - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of eight houses located in Richland County.
Community Development Corporation of Marlboro County - $138,000 for the rehabilitation of six houses located in Marlboro County.
Allendale County ALIVE - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Allendale County.
Housing Development Corp. of Rock Hill - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in York County.
Northeastern Corridor of Orangeburg CDC - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Orangeburg County.
Claflin University CDC - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Orangeburg County.
Wateree Community Actions, Inc. - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Sumter County.
Lynchburg CDC - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of seven houses located in Lee County.
Darlington County Habitat for Humanity - $89,000 for the rehabilitation of four houses located in Darlington County.
Upstate Homeless Coalition of South Carolina - $46,000 for the rehabilitation of four houses located in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties.
Homes of Hope. Inc. - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of twelve houses located in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties.
Carolina Communities Foundation, Inc. - $155,750 for the rehabilitation of four houses located in Barnwell County.
Southeastern Housing Foundation - $69,000 for the rehabilitation of four houses located in Barnwell County.
United Way of Kershaw - $62,900 for the rehabilitation of four houses located in Kershaw County.
Supportive Housing/Transitional Housing 
The purpose of Supportive Housing is to fund Shelters and/or Transitional Housing for very low income households at or below 50 percent of the area median income.
Coastal Rescue Mission, Inc. - $300,000 for the acquisition and rehabilitation of a building located in Horry County to house homeless women and their dependents. 
Disabilities Board of Charleston County - $300,000 for the acquisition and rehabilitation of 10 units in Charleston County to house disabled individuals who are transitioning from more structured Group Home environments.
Jubilation House, Inc. - $300,000 for the construction of a shelter to house 50 homeless individuals. This shelter will be located in Horry County.
Group Homes
Aldersgate Special Needs Ministry, Inc. - $75,000 for the construction of a Group Home containing seven units to provide housing fro disabled individuals.
The South Carolina Housing Trust Fund provides financial assistance for the development, rehabilitation, and acquisition of affordable housing for low-income and very low-income households at or below 80 percent of the area median income.
