Statewide Housing Forum Recognizes Lenders and Brokers - 2/11/2008

[Columbia, SC] The South Carolina State Housing Authority recognized outstanding lenders and brokers across the state at the Palmetto Affordable Housing Forum held recently at the Columbia Metropolitan Center in Columbia.
Over 200 lenders and brokers compete for these annual awards presented through the Authority’s homeownership program.  The awards are given based on criteria including overall production, underwriting quality, delinquency, foreclosure rates, and other pertinent information relating to the financial institutions.
The Lender/Broker of the Year Award was presented to Citizens First Mortgage with over $11.6 million in loan volume. Citizens First Mortgage, with branches in Mauldin and Spartanburg, joined the Authority in 2005 as a Participating Partner.  They have proven to be an asset for all South Carolinians seeking affordable housing.
Lender of the Year, Division I was given to Carolina First.  Carolina First, one of the largest South Carolina based commercial banks, prides itself on putting their customers first.  They became a participating partner with the Authority in 1994 and have produced a number of homeownership loans in the Midlands as well as the upstate.
Broker of the Year Division I went to Hanover Mortgage. Located in Greenville, Hanover Mortgage has been a participating partner since 2003 and has been one of the Authority’s top five producers for the past three years. Hanover’s loan volume each year makes them one of the Authority’s top producers.
Lender of the Year Division II was presented to Midland Mortgage of Columbia is an original Authority participating partner.  Midland Mortgage strives to generate quality loans for the Midlands of South Carolina working with the citizens and builders to establish mortgage financing to the first time homebuyers market by offering the Authority’s homeownership loan program and down payment assistance. 
Broker of the Year Division II was received by Upstate Mortgage. Upstate Mortgage located in Greenville, became a participating partner for the Authority in 2006.  They have consistently produced above average loan volume in the short time they have partnered with us. The award was earned by their diligence to offer affordable mortgages to first time homebuyers in South Carolina.
